 To qualify for these covered non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) rides through Alabama Medicaid, an individual must meet the following criteria:

1. Active Alabama Medicaid Coverage: The person must have active full Alabama Medicaid on the exact day of their medical or clinic appointment.
2. Medicaid-Covered Services: The ride must be to and from a doctor's office, clinic, or medical provider for a health care service that is actually covered by Medicaid (e.g., within your allowed annual limits).
3. Proper Scheduling Through the NET Program: The ride request must be called into the Alabama Medicaid Non-Emergency Transportation (NET) Call Center 1-800-362-1504 (option 4) ahead of time—typically recommended at least 5 days in advance—to obtain an official reference/ticket number.

(Note: Dental appointment transportation is specifically restricted to pregnant mothers and children). 

 Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NET) is a specialized service designed to help eligible patients get safely to and from medical appointments. 

• Who pays for it? The Alabama Medicaid Agency operates a NET Program that pays for the transportation costs of qualifying patients who are traveling to medical appointments covered under their Alabama Medicaid plan. 
• What does it cover? It covers rides to various qualifying healthcare services, including primary care doctor visits, pediatrics, specialty care, pregnancy check-ups, behavioral and mental health services, eye exams, dialysis, outpatient procedures, counseling, and physical, occupational, or speech therapy. 
• How do you use it? Participants must call the Alabama Medicaid NET RCC at 1-800-365-1504 (option 4) at least 5 days in advance to request a ride and get a reference number, then call Damir's Transport at (334) 790-3544 to lock in the trip.
